Post and Telecommunications

Post offices are open on weekdays from 7am to 7pm and Saturdays until 1pm. Postage stamps can be purchased from Post Offices and at news- stands. Your holiday postcards and letters should take approximately 4 – 10 days to reach the U.K. Most hotels have a post box or look for the YELLOW post box on walls etc.

Public telephones can only be used with phone cards which can be purchased from Post Offices, news stands, tourist complexes and hotels.

Working Hours

Shops & department stores are open from Mon to Fri 7am to 7pm and Saturdays until 1pm. However, some smaller stores will close between 12 noon and 4pm. Many stores are also open on Sundays, especially in the summer months. Public services and companies usually work between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm Mon to Fri.

Tourist Tax

Everyone should pay Tourist Tax. You must take your passport to the Tourist Office and complete forms. Prices are:
1 euro per day per adult
0.5 euro per day for child 12-18 yrs

Driving

A full U.K. driving license is required to drive in Croatia, and the wearing of seatbelts is compulsory. Drink driving is not acceptable and is an offence. It is also law to drive with your dipped headlights turned on throughout the day.
